about

With a electronic techno experimental style we performed this ep as a colaboration between two cities Chicago and New York.
Here are the details of what we used and did on the ep.
We used two Elektron Octatracks, Clave, Suzuki Omnichord OM-84,Vintage Electro-Voice RE50 Microphone,
Cassette Recorder, Mutable Yarns, mutable instruments plaits, moog grandmother, Rossum Assimil8or and Make Noise Rosie output module.
We recorded the session materials over several days, each one an improvisation with no preconceived
plan. For the first session, we sampled the Clave into the Assimil8or and later used field recordings of singing
which Jed performed at the Dyer, Indiana Amtrak station building and manipulated these cassette recordings live,
sampling them on the Octatrack. Next, we used a broken Omnichord which promptly died, also processed live
vocals in the studio on the Octatrack and Assimil8or as well, using various effects (Delay, Comb Filter & Reverb)
controlled by the crossfader and also used automated sampling techniques via the Octatrack's sequencer.
The Assimil8or was used to create large, otherworldly sub-bass sounds that were almost too low to hear at
times and created a psychoacoustic effect of brooding, seismic spatial movement. The Rosie output module
was used as a volume control to allow a continuously shifting mix between us as Jed faded himself in and out
and the Mutable Yarns interfaced the Octatrack's midi out with the Assimil8or. Depending on the session,
the sounds were either strictly from the Assimil8or or just from the Octatrack alone, plus sequences trigered from the Octatrack’s sequencer to the plaits and we used the moog grandmother built in sequencer, plus a opz via cv controlling the kick on pack of gum, also Carolina Arroba plays random patterns in a electric guitar with the Omnichord along giving a singular taste of electroacoustic techniques.
